ABSTRACT

This article aims at understanding the socio-cultural processes that converge in the educational dynamics of the Sikuani indigenous population of the municipality of La Primavera (Vichada, Colombia) and shows some of the characteristics of factors external to the territory that have impacted cultural practices, levels of education, and daily life. The methodological prospection was developed in the midst of COVID-19, which conditioned a greater emphasis on documentary research and a reduced proximity to the territory in a virtual way. This led to some debates and networks on the situation of vulnerability and the violation of basic rights, as well as an accelerated depletion of their cultural and traditional practices such as the use of yopo in ancestral medicine, the praying of fish as a formula for protection and an acute linkage of these practices at the educational levels. The result is a reduced development of ethnoeducation, an acute loss of the use of the lan-guage in the younger population and a secular absence of public policies in most of the department of Vichada.
